Lost Tribe Vanilla Waves V2 Extra Musk opens on vanilla itself, laced with cinnamon and Peru balsam, then hands everything to oud, aged Mysore sandalwood and musk. Logged at 10 to 12 hours, sillage Enormous, the only vanilla here that does both. It is for the wearer who wants vanilla dark, resinous and nothing like dessert.
The smart first buy
Xerjoff Naxos is honey, cinnamon and jasmine over cured tobacco leaf, vanilla and tonka. Logged at 8 to 10 hours, sillage Enormous, yet the honeyed lift carries it through mild autumn days and even a warm office.
The boozy pair
Kilian Paris Angels' Share opens on cognac and dries down through oak to vanilla, praline and candied almond, polished rather than loud.
