The couple behind Memo Paris
Floraïku is the second house of Clara and John Molloy, who founded Memo Paris in 2007. Clara was born in Paris, loves literature, writes poetry and published a book on 22 perfumers at work. John was born in Ireland and has travelled widely. A 2008 trip to Japan, first to the art island of Naoshima and then to Tokyo and Kyoto, stayed with them both. They turned it into a new brand in 2017, run today from rue Bayard in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.

Every name is a line of verse
Each perfume starts from a three-line haiku written by Clara, and the perfume takes its name from the poem. Three Japanese ceremonies frame the collections: Ô Cha for tea, Ikebana for flower arranging and Kōdō for incense. Aliénor Massenet and Sophie Labbé composed the early range. Floraïku Sand and Skin ends its poem on the words of its title and lays sun-warmed benzoin and Madagascar vanilla over ylang ylang, amyris and sandalwood.

Painted caps and a bento box
The presentation borrows from the Japanese lunch box: a 50 ml flacon travels with a 10 ml refill in a single box. The haiku is engraved on the back of the glass, and every cap is illustrated with its own design and doubles as a purse spray. On Floraïku Sand and Skin the cap carries a shell motif in warm browns, a nod to the shore at dusk. The perfumes are made in France.
