What ultra-niche actually means

Ultra-niche is not simply expensive perfume. It is the tier where houses release in the hundreds of bottles rather than the hundreds of thousands, where the perfumer is often the owner, and where a composition is allowed to be difficult because nobody is trying to make it agreeable to everyone.

Toskovat, Adi Ale Van, The Antagonist, Bortnikoff and Areej Le Doré all sit here. So does the risk: these are the fragrances least likely to be blind-buyable and least likely to be available to smell anywhere near you.
