Indie naturals with a sense of humour
Lost Tribe makes warm, textural, slightly off-kilter naturals. Vanilla Waves is the gateway, all salted vanilla and sunlight. Freddy, Neon Palms and Lost Lotus take the same hand in stranger directions, greener and more resinous.
These are compositions that shift a lot over a wearing, so a blotter tells you very little. Decants are poured to order in 1ml, 2ml, 5ml and 10ml and ship worldwide with duties included.

A collector who began macerating musk
Mathew Schmuelian spent years collecting natural artisan perfumes built on musk, oud and ambergris before he started buying materials himself and macerating musk. His first release, Hope You Like It, came in 2022 as a batch of about 16 bottles, and Lost Tribe grew from there, made by hand in New York City. He trades ideas with other makers: Pan's Labyrinth with Rajesh Balkrishnan, Poison Ivy with Folkwinds, Night v2 with Moustafa Shoair of Yaaseen.

Fruit and flowers against animalics
Ideas come from old perfumes he wants to rebuild in naturals, desserts from his childhood, or suggestions from his wife, and each name is fixed at the concept stage to hold the theme together. The Hamptons sets raspberry and yuzu against civet and white ambergris. Freddy, a nod to Freddy Krueger, runs pear, apple and clove into fir. Neon Palms lays pineapple and raspberry over a chypre base, and Vanilla Waves pairs French vanilla and cinnamon with Mongolian musk.

Oud weighed by the gram
Every material is natural, animalics included: musk, ambergris, civet and castoreum. Ambergris is chosen by colour, white or light brown for bright blends, brown or black for dark ones. Musk tinctures sit for months, and oud is measured by the gram: a 15 ml Prince of Persia holds 1 g of 2011 Black Thai Kinam, a bottle of Dubai 1.5 g of Chiang Mai oud, a 15 ml Freddy 1.3 g of wild Aceh oud. Blends that are hard to repeat return as numbered versions.
