The distiller behind the name
Russian Adam spent years at the still before he made a perfume, distilling close to a hundred different agarwood oils under the Feel Oud name, the distillery Dmitry Bortnikoff co-founded in 2013. Areej Le Doré grew out of that work. Its first collection held Siberian Musk, Oud Zen and Ottoman Empire, and Siberian Musk came out in 2017 in 100 numbered bottles. The house began in Thailand and is now based in Indonesia.

Russian, Arabian and French at once
The idea is a meeting of three traditions: Russian directness and weight, the richness of Arabian perfumery and French polish, carried by rare materials that modern perfumery has mostly dropped. Releases arrive as numbered collections, and once one sells out it can rarely be made again, because its rare materials often cannot be sourced again. The names show the range, from Russian Oud and Koh i Noor to War and Peace. The 7th collection, released in 2022, carried the History of Attar idea into seven sprayable eaux de parfum, Al Majmua among them.

Own oils and legal musk
Areej produces its own agarwood and sandalwood oils and buys the rest from specialist producers. The formulas reach for materials few houses touch: rose otto from Afghanistan, wild Malaysian blue agarwood, a smooth oud from Sri Lanka, and Siberian deer musk grains bought legally from an institution supplied only by licensed hunters. Russian Adam composes every perfume himself from natural materials, adding a small touch of synthetics only where a formula needs it.
