Olivier and Erwin Creed
Olivier Creed was master perfumer and creative director through the years of Green Irish Tweed in 1985 and Aventus in 2010, and he died in May 2026. His son Erwin, born in Paris in 1980, worked beside him as co-creative director, and the two made Millésime 1849 together in partnership with Harrods. Erwin also races cars: he won an LMP3 race at Monza in 2017 and drove a season in the World Endurance Championship for Larbre Compétition.

Fresh, polished and built on the base
The first French trademark for Creed perfume was registered in 1979, and the breakthrough came in 1985 with Green Irish Tweed, a fresh fougère. Aventus followed in September 2010 with Napoleon as its theme: blackcurrant, pineapple, bergamot and birch over oakmoss, musk and ambergris. Olivier Creed put the weight on the base notes rather than the opening. Absolu Aventus appeared as a limited edition in 2023 and returned in 2024 as a fresher new harvest.

Weighed by hand near Fontainebleau
Creed perfumes are made in France, at the house's facilities near the Château de Fontainebleau, southeast of Paris. Natural materials are weighed out by hand and left to age, a method named the Art of Millésime. Ownership has moved fast: BlackRock took a majority stake in 2020, Kering bought the company for €3.5 billion in 2023, and L'Oréal completed its purchase of Kering's beauty arm, Creed included, in 2026.
