A couturier meets a perfumer
Marc-Antoine Barrois was 20 and showing his first collections in Lille when the couturier Dominique Sirop spotted him in 2004 and brought him into his Paris house. Two years later he was working with Jean Paul Gaultier at Hermès. In 2009, aged 25, he opened his own maison de couture. In 2015 he met the Givaudan perfumer Quentin Bisch, and the two have built the Barrois fragrances together ever since.

Leather, spice and the night sky
The first perfume, B683, arrived in 2016: saffron, black pepper and chilli over violet leaf and leather, drying down to patchouli, sandalwood and oakmoss. Its name joins the planet of The Little Prince to Barrois's own birthday. Ganymede followed in 2019, named for the moon of Jupiter that Galileo found. Mandarin, osmanthus and immortelle sit on a leather accord with a stony, salty edge, and in 2020 it took two FiFi awards. Later names keep looking up: Encelade, Aldebaran.

Made in France, left unchanged
The perfumes are made in France, and B683's formula has not changed since its launch in October 2016; the house has promised to tell customers if it ever must. Ganymede's box lost its cellophane, and its foam gave way to recyclable cardboard. The line runs from eau de parfum to extrait, with 170 g perfumed soaps and candles alongside, sold on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in Galerie Véro-Dodat, in London's Piccadilly Arcade and, since April 2026, on Wooster Street in SoHo.
