Sir Joff from Turin
Sergio Momo, a painter and designer before he turned to scent, founded Xerjoff in Turin in 2007 with Dominique Salvo. The name joins two nicknames: Sir, from colleagues in London, and Joff, from his grandmother. His first perfume sat in a quartz flacon sculpted and polished by hand, and a client in Moscow ordered several more, which set the house in motion. Salvo designed the house cap, drawn from the red crown of ancient Egypt in the collection of Turin's Egyptian Museum.

Stones, meteorites and Sicilian honey
The first line, 17/17 Stone Label in 2007, set semi-precious stones and meteorite fragments into the design under gold-plated caps. That taste for the precious runs on through Shooting Stars in 2009 and the 1861 collection, named for the year Italy was unified. Its Naxos is a portrait of Sicily: lavender, bergamot and lemon over honey, cinnamon and jasmine, settling into tobacco leaf, vanilla and tonka. In 2009 the group also revived Casamorati, an Italian perfume house founded in 1888.

Jewel flacons made in Italy
Xerjoff keeps design, product development, quality control, logistics and sales in house, and places production with chosen suppliers. The flacons are made in Italy by specialist craftsmen. Perfumers from Grasse, Italy, Spain and Southeast Asia compose for the house. In 2016 it introduced a signature bottle of clear, ridged glass on a heavy base. The group is based in Moncalieri, on the southern edge of Turin, and sells in more than 100 countries.
