Jordi Fernández

Jordi Fernández came to perfume through an internship in a fragrance laboratory early in his career, where a perfumer walked him through how a scent is built and he was hooked at once. He then left the usual training route and taught himself, drawing on the landscapes of Spain and on what he learned from Middle Eastern perfumery. He is now vice president and master perfumer at Givaudan, and since 2019 has held the Patchouli chair at Spain's Academia del Perfume.

Oud and dense, sensual materials are his home ground, often worked alongside woods and citrus. His credits run from Montblanc Explorer and Versace Vanille Rouge to Carner Barcelona, where he wrote Volcano, Latin Lover and Bo-Bo, the bright Mediterranean fresh he singles out among his own work. He also composed Etat Libre d'Orange Nostos and, in 2026, a trio of Absolu de Parfums for BDK Parfums, Oud Paradisio among them.

Maison Crivelli Oud Maracujá sets passion fruit against oud, saffron, Turkish rose and Spanish cistus, and Fragrantica readers voted it the best niche perfume of 2024. Ex Nihilo gives him a free hand: Gold Immortals, Blue Talisman and Brompton Immortals are his, and he took Gold Immortals further as an extrait. He also signed the extraits of Outcast Blue, deepened with agarwood, and The Hedonist, brightened with lychee and grapefruit.
