MDCI - Chypre Palatin

Chypre Palatin is built on the classical bones of the great chypres: galbanum's green, resinous bite cutting through aldehydic brightness at the open, before a heart of rose, iris, and plum pulls the structure inward toward something darker and more powdered.

The Nose

Composed by Bertrand Duchaufour for MDCI, also behind L'Artisan Parfumeur Timbuktu, Amouage Jubilation XXV and L'Artisan Parfumeur Dzongkha.

Fragrance Character

The opening is assertive, galbanum and aldehydes projecting sharply before clementine and hyacinth soften the edges into something almost herbal and cool. The heart thickens as rose and plum absorb into iris, the whole accord becoming more intimate and talced. On the drydown, oakmoss and castoreum anchor it to skin, leather and immortelle threading through the benzoin and vanilla with an animalic, resinous warmth that lingers close for hours.

Best Worn

Autumn evenings and the colder months reward its weight best, the kind of scent that suits a coat, candlelight, or a formal table where something composed and uncompromising is exactly right.
