The Story

Invasion Barbare is Stéphanie Bakouche's composition, a masculine written by a woman perfumer in a category that rarely was. It takes the barbershop idea, lavender and cardamom over vanilla and musk, and finishes it far past where a barbershop scent normally stops.

Fragrance Character

The first minutes project with genuine force, that citrus-violet brightness carrying a cool, slightly bitter edge that cuts cleanly through the air. As the aromatic heart takes hold, lavender and thyme give it a herbal, almost rugged texture, softened by the warmth of cardamom and ginger. By the drydown, patchouli and vanilla form a resinous skin-close base that lingers well into the evening without announcing itself.

Best Worn

Built for the workday, with the cool, slightly bitter brightness of someone who favors depth over flourish, this is a fragrance for spring and fall daylight that carries just as easily into easy weekend hours and more refined daytime occasions.

The Maison

MDCI

Classical French perfumery in bust topped flacons, taken by the pour.

MDCI treats perfumery the way a private collector treats a cellar, quietly commissioning some of the most respected noses in the craft and refusing to rush a formula. Every release feels composed rather than churned out, all polished construction and old world confidence.
