Stéphanie Bakouche told her family at five that she would make perfume. She trained at ISIPCA, was mentored by Bertrand Duchaufour and worked for Givaudan, Takasago and Hermès Parfum before opening her own laboratory, Sensaba, in 2017. The lab is in Paris's 7th arrondissement, and its concentrates are made by Accords & Parfums at the Domaine Sainte Blanche in Grasse, where Edmond Roudnitska founded Art & Parfum.
Since 2013 she has been one of the Osmothèque's osmothécaires, the perfumer-curators who rebuild its archive of formulas in Versailles, and since 2018 she has taught olfaction and creation at the École Supérieure du Parfum. Her clients are mostly niche houses: L'Artisan Parfumeur Rose Privée (2015), Jul et Mad Mon Seul Désir (2017), Maison Crivelli Rose Saltifolia (2018), Chabaud La Nuit Danse (2019), Masque Milano Sleight of Fern (2022) and Marlou Heliodose (2025). In 2023 she and Duchaufour co-wrote Will for Comporta Perfumes.
MDCI Invasion Barbare, from 2005, is the earliest perfume on her list. It is aromatic and spiced with an animal warmth: grapefruit, bergamot and violet leaf, then white thyme, cardamom, lavender and ginger, over patchouli, Bourbon vanilla and musk.
