Ensar Oud - Oud Sultani: Kannan Koh

A dense, smoke-laced purple pressing of violet leaf, castoreum, and crimson jasmine wrapped around some of the rarest aged agarwood on earth, Oud Sultani: Kannan Koh is ceremonial in weight and archaic in character. Nepalese spikenard and vintage orris anchor the floral core in resinous earth, while Tigerwood 1991 and Kannan Koh oud pull the composition deep into ferrous, animalic territory.

The Story

The Kannan Koh edition is formulated around a grade and profile of oud that the house regards as belonging to another era, one it considers unreplicable today. Each bottle carries 7.75 grams of oud in total, including 1.5 grams of Kannan Koh alongside seven additional aged ouds. That density of material is the point: the composition exists as a record of what those materials, combined, once smelled like.

The Nose

Created by the house of Ensar Oud, long regarded as one of the most rigorous independent sources for raw and blended oud compositions.

Fragrance Character

On first contact, the oud asserts itself with resinous force, a dark barnyard warmth edged by raw agarwood smoke and the rooty, medicinal pull of spikenard. Jasmine and rose surface in the heart without sweetness, their petals bruised rather than fresh, pressed into the castoreum and tonkin musk. The drydown settles close to skin but loses nothing of its density, bourbon vanilla and ambergris rounding the base into something skin-warm and unyielding.
