Tauer Perfumes - L’Air du Désert Marocain
Tauer Perfumes L’Air du Désert Marocain (LADM) is the iconic dry, resinous amber-incense fragrance that captures the soul of a moonlit Moroccan desert night. It was created in 2005 by Swiss perfumer Andy Tauer. This modern cult classic remains the benchmark for atmospheric, meditative oriental-amber compositions
L’Air du Désert Marocain isn’t just a perfume; it’s an olfactory journey. Few fragrances manage to be simultaneously wild, spiritual, and impossibly elegant. If you’ve ever dreamed of bottling the scent of a starlit Sahara night, this is it

How L’Air du Désert Marocain Actually Smells
From the very first spray, you’re hit by a warm, bone-dry wind of spiced coriander and cumin – aromatic, slightly dusty, and instantly transporting. The petitgrain injects a bitter-green citrus shimmer that prevents the spices from ever feeling heavy.
Minutes later, the heart blooms into smoky rock rose (labdanum) laced with a whisper of jasmine. This is where the magic happens: it smells like sacred incense swirling in hot desert air, like amber-colored resin melting on sun-scorched stone.
The long, mesmerising dry-down is pure arid elegance – parched cedar, earthy vetiver, and a saline ambergris glow that lingers for hours (sometimes days) on fabric. Wearers often describe the final skin scent as “warm sand under starlight”.
Performance
- L’Air du Désert Marocain is an eau de toilette intense with outstanding longevity and a distinctive, enveloping sillage.
- The spicy-amber accord projects clearly in the first few hours, then settles into a dry, woody-amber skin scent that can be perceived for many hours on skin and even longer on clothing.
- It is a characterful fragrance that rewards a considered number of sprays.
If you are fan of dry, spicy, incense-heavy fragrances like Amouage Interlude Man, you'll definitely love it.
