Xerjoff is Italian maximalism from Turin, pouring gold since 2003. These perfumes are built to fill a room and hold it, glossy and confident, an entrance rather than a whisper. The craft under the shine is real, and the distance between the loud first impression and how each one settles over an evening is exactly why the house rewards sampling.
Picture the range as two poles. At one end sits the bright, sweet, gourmand Xerjoff of honey, citrus and orchard fruit. At the other sits the dark, ceremonial Xerjoff where oud, incense and animalic warmth do the talking.

Naxos, the one to start with
Naxos is the crowd-pleaser, and the best first Xerjoff for almost everyone. Bergamot, lemon and lavender snap open bright, honey and cinnamon thicken the heart, and the base is cured tobacco leaf folded into vanilla and tonka bean.
Logged at 8 to 10 hours with Enormous sillage, it carries a long-standing reputation as a compliment magnet in cool weather. In summer the honey turns syrupy, so save it for cold air. From $14 (2 ml decant); the full bottle is $383, made to order.
Alexandria 2 Anniversary, the statement
This is the dark pole of the house in one bottle. Bulgarian rose and lavender open over cumin and cardamom, then oud, civet and amber take command before Australian sandalwood and vanilla carry the close.
Logged at 10 to 12 hours, sillage Enormous, the longest wear of the three we pour. It is also the most polarizing: warmer, spicier and more animalic than the original Alexandria II, built for winter nights and wearers already at ease with animalic oud. From $25 (2 ml decant) against $903 for the bottle, which is precisely what a decant is for.
Erba Gold, the daylight one
Erba Gold is the easy morning after those two evenings. Brazilian orange, Sicilian lemon and ginger fizz over melon, pear and green apple, threaded with cardamom and clove, resting on Madagascar vanilla and amber.
Logged at 8 to 10 hours at Strong rather than Enormous, it is the only one of the three not rated Enormous, and the most daylight-friendly thing the house makes. From $17 (2 ml decant).
How we pour it
Every Xerjoff decant here is filled from a bottle we bought at full retail from the house, never the grey market. That matters more with this house than most: counterfeit attention follows resale value, and Naxos is one of the three bottles fakers work hardest on.
We measure each order with lab-grade Socorex syringes, pour it in real 2 ml, 5 ml and 10 ml sizes, and seal it the day it ships.
How to start
Start with a 2 ml of Naxos. If you are torn, all three 2 ml pours together run $56, less than a sixth of the lowest-priced full bottle, and they map the whole house from its sweet gourmand core to its animalic oud edge.
Wear each across a full day, note which one you keep reaching back for, then size up to a 5 ml or 10 ml of the winner. Ten millilitres of Naxos is $54. The bottle it might save you from is $383.
