Why Do Some Decants Cost So Little? Behind the Impossible Prices

A decant priced under the bottle it came out of reads as generosity. It is a subsidy someone upstream paid. Xerjoff Naxos, our made to order full bottle, is $383, or $3.83 per millilitre. Our 5 ml decant is $34, or $6.80. An honest decant lands above the bottle's rate, never below.
One number sorts every decant seller
Divide price by millilitres, bottle and decant, and set the two side by side. Photography moves, review counts move, the word authentic moves. This number does not. Here is Naxos, every size we sell.
| Size | Price | Per ml |
|---|---|---|
| 2 ml decant | $14 | $7.00 |
| 5 ml decant | $34 | $6.80 |
| 10 ml decant | $54 | $5.40 |
| Full bottle, 100 ml, made to order | $383 | $3.83 |
Every decant line sits 1.4 to 1.8 times above the bottle line. That is the shape of the work: one bottle becomes twenty 5 ml decants, so twenty atomisers, twenty labels, twenty boxes, twenty payment fees. Twenty of everything except the bottle.
That multiple is measured against our own made to order bottle, which carries our sourcing on top of retail. Against an authorised retailer's shelf price the gap narrows. The direction does not change.
What the $383 is actually buying

8-10 Hours · Enormous sillage

Lavender
Bergamot

Honey
Cinnamon
Dries down
Tobacco Leaf
Vanilla
Tobacco leaf, not an inexpensive material to use honestly: nicotine is a prohibited cosmetic ingredient in the EU, so the absolute is stripped of it first. 8 to 10 hours in our data, sillage in our top band, Enormous. It fails in heat and at close range, where the honey goes syrupy and the next desk gets all of it. From $14 (2 ml decant).
One low price is a person
The honest exception is a hobbyist splitting one personal bottle among friends at cost. No stock, no leaks, no business. That works once. It cannot scale.
A catalogue of low prices is a supply chain, and it is fair to ask which one. When a storefront sits below retail per ml across many expensive fragrances, restocked month after month, the usual answer is unglamorous: the bottles were probably never bought at retail. Parallel imports, discounter pallets, liquidated stock.
Frequently genuine. Never traceable. We have never audited another seller's bench.
Traceability is the only thing a decant seller can actually guarantee, because the batch code, the cellophane and the boutique bag all die in the transfer to a 5 ml atomiser. You are buying an account of a journey you did not see.
Their pricing should make sense when you understand the model.
An influencer can review a smell
They cannot audit a supply chain. Authentic, from a reviewer, means the one bottle they were sent seemed fine. Consistency across an inventory is a different claim.
A price test catches a dishonest seller. It cannot catch a fragrance that is wrong for you. That is the 2 ml's job: $14, seven days, and the answer arrives long before the $383 question has to.
Quick answers
How many sprays is a 5 ml decant? Around fifty, at a tenth of a millilitre per spray, and fewer if your atomiser is generous. That is inference from atomiser volume rather than a count we ran, so treat it as a planning figure. The size by size breakdown is in how many sprays each decant gives you.
Does a high price prove a decant is genuine? No. A number is the easiest thing on a listing to move in either direction, and expensive sellers can be careless too. What you are testing is whether a seller will describe the route the bottle took and the process it went through in specifics you could challenge.
What should I ask before I buy? Where the bottle was bought, whether it was sealed when opened, what the transfer is done with, and which concentration you are getting, since one name can cover an EDT, an EDP and an extrait. Then judge the juice with a testing method that actually works, and browse the catalogue once you know what you want.
