Place de la Rêverie Santal de Paris on video: the navy box, opened

Twelve seconds of unboxing. Santal de Paris arrives in a navy box stamped in gold, and this clip follows it from the leather tabletop to the decant atomizer we fill from it.

What happens in the video

The box sits beside tasselled pouches and a black dish, the lid comes off to reveal the gold-capped flacon in its cradle, hands turn the bottle to the light, and the clip closes on a filled decant wearing the Place de la Rêverie label.

What it smells like

Nathalie Feisthauer composed Santal de Paris around an intimate reading of the city, treating sandalwood as creamy and powdered rather than dry. Powdery notes, lily and amyris open it; ambrette, Ambroxan and Mysore sandalwood sit in the heart; vanilla, benzoin and labdanum close it. It stays close, more a veil on skin than a projection.

Who it is for

Sandalwood lovers who want softness over smoke, and anyone building an office-safe wardrobe; it appears in our woody and sandalwood guide and in our office-safe picks. The fragrance page has the full story and the accord map.

Decants and the bottle

We decant Santal de Paris from an original 50 ml bottle into 2 ml, 5 ml and 10 ml atomizers when stock allows. The decants are sold out at this writing and the full bottle can still be ordered; for creamy sandalwood in a decant meanwhile, try Floraïku Sand and Skin.
