Zoologist - Squid
Squid opens on a cold, saline shock, ink and sea salt blooming against a resinous spine of incense and opoponax before settling into something skin-warm and almost tactile. Pink pepper cuts the density early; ambergris and benzoin close it into a musky, oceanic amber that clings rather than fades.
The Nose
Composed by Celine Barel for Zoologist, also behind Coach Poppy, Jo Malone London Vanilla & Anise and Blumarine Bellissima.

Fragrance Character
The opening is sharp and slightly antiseptic, incense and amyl salicylate framing that central note of raw ink with an almost mineral clarity. Sea salt keeps the heart cool and wet while opoponax begins pulling everything toward warmth. On the drydown, benzoin and ambergris take over completely, the oceanic edge softened into a dense, animalic musk that sits close to skin.

Best Worn
Best in the long drift between late autumn and early spring, worn at night when the air is cold enough to sharpen the salt and let the resins open slowly.
Why the Squid Decant
The ink accord is genuinely strange and not universally wearable, making a decant the only sensible way to test whether your skin chemistry resolves it toward beauty or brine.
