Vincent Ricord comes from a Grasse family in which most relatives worked in perfume, and his grandfather composed fragrances. An internship in a perfumery laboratory at 13 settled his path within a week. Without the chemistry ISIPCA required, he learned on the job: a meeting with Jacques Lions led to an internship, in the summer of 1998 he was working in Takasago's fine fragrance laboratory in Paris, and Expressions Parfumées then trained him for its evaluation and perfumery team.
He went on to work in Paris for Expressions Parfumées and then Drom, taught at the École Supérieure du Parfum, and in 2020 joined CPL Aromas as a senior perfumer, composing from its Paris creative centre for clients in France, the UK and Dubai. He treats a brief the way a film composer treats a scene, and names his trials after songs, films and artists. His clients have included D'Orsay, Sisley Paris, Lalique, Miller et Bertaux and Haute Fragrance Company. For D'Orsay he composed the amber leather eau de parfum Te Dire Oui. V.H. and a long run of candles and room scents. John-Paul Welton relies on him to turn the ideas behind Welton London into perfume.
