Filippo Sorcinelli - Reliqvia

Reliqvia opens like the interior of an ancient church stripped to its bones: pine resin and mastic crackling against clove, smoke rising through incense and guaiac wood before the whole thing settles into a warm, tobacco-darkened embrace of sandalwood and black currant.

The Nose

Composed by Filippo Sorcinelli, the founding nose of UNUM, also behind UNUM LAVS and UNUM Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino il Volto.

Fragrance Character

The opening is resinous and sharp, mastic and pine projecting a cool, almost medicinal clarity before clove and amyris push warmth into the frame. Incense and patchouli thicken the heart, guaiac and cashmere wood pulling the smoke down from the rafters into something earthier and closer to skin. The base is where it lingers, tobacco and elemi fused with the faint sweetness of orange and black currant, worn like a second skin by the late hours.

Best Worn

Deep autumn and midwinter, worn after dark into candlelit rooms or cold night air, by someone who finds ceremony in the ordinary.
