Calice Becker is a French perfumer who trained in Grasse at what is now the Givaudan Perfumery School, a school whose teaching goes back to Jean Carles. Her career has taken her between Paris and New York. She was at Quest International when Givaudan bought it in 2007 and joined the group as a vice-president perfumer. In March 2017 Givaudan named her director of the same school, while she kept working for a few fragrance clients.
Florals carry her best-known work: Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Girl in 1996, Dior J'adore in 1999, then Estée Lauder Beyond Paradise and, in 2009, Marc Jacobs Lola. She also signed Versace Dylan Blue pour Femme, the women's version rather than the men's original, and The Musc for Essential Parfums. Kilian Paris has relied on her for a large share of its range, Love, Don't Be Shy among them.
Her Sunkissed Goddess for Kilian Paris sits in The Narcotics and takes its cue from monoi, the Polynesian oil of tiaré flowers steeped in coconut. Ylang-ylang and vanilla fill out the flower and the coconut, and guaiac wood with cistus labdanum makes a woody, resinous base.
