Frédéric Malle Decants and Samples
Frédéric Malle runs like an editor rather than a house, handing a great perfumer a blank cheque and putting their name on the bottle. The result is a shelf where nothing is timid. These are compositions built to be noticed from across a room, rich and unafraid, the kind of scent you remember on a person long after they have left. If you have only ever read about these online, sampling is the honest way in, because every one of them behaves differently on warm skin than it does on paper.
Every Frédéric Malle here is bought at full retail directly through proper channels, never the grey market, so what lands in your decant is exactly what the house intended. We pour to order with lab-grade Socorex syringes into clean vials, offered in the real sizes you see below (commonly 1ml, 2ml, 5ml and 10ml), and each one is measured and sealed the same day it ships. It is the low-risk way to live with a fragrance for a week or two before you commit to a full bottle.
The Frédéric Malle range
- Portrait of a Lady. A towering, dark rose wrapped in incense and patchouli, sweetened by raspberry and red berries and warmed with clove and cinnamon. Formal, romantic and impossible to ignore. From $16.
- Musc Ravageur. Opens bright, a citrus-spiked lavender, then gives itself over completely to one of the most carnal, skin-close musks in modern perfumery. Bare, warm and unmistakably intimate. From $15.
- The Moon. An extrait that glows. Juicy raspberry, litchi and saffron over a red Turkish rose, deepened with olibanum and oud into something vast and nocturnal. Enormous and unforgettable. From $33.
How to start
Begin with a 2ml of whichever scene calls to you, live with it across a few different days, and notice how it shifts from morning skin to evening. Build a small set of two or three to compare side by side, then size up to the one you keep reaching for.
